Lip Sync character Designs

This was my chosen design for one of my characters. I imagined his personality to be sweet but also dense. I focused on making circular shapes when designing him as that’s usually associated with cute characters. As well as this, I based this design on a real fish called Bubble Eye Goldfish. These fish have a very unique characteristic of big cheeks that increase in size as they get older. This also influenced my colour pallet as I wanted this character to stand out as well as reflect characteristics of the real Goldfish. When drawing the 360 degree angles of this character I definitely found this difficult to get correctly I had to sculpt the fish from clay and use it as my model when drawing the different angles. To help me later on I wrote tips about the character which needed to stay the same throughout all my drawings.
For my second character I wanted to create a different personality. When I imagined this character to the soundtrack I chose, I imagined a more intense, serious character with a partially know it all characteristic. When designing this character I had another particular fish I drew inspiration from. I based this design from a minnow fish. I had to change some characteristics as a minnow fish is very straight but I wanted to give my character more movement and curves to give him more personality. A fact about minnow fish is they usually have scaleless heads I found this very interesting and wanted to play of this fact. So I decided that this fish overcompensates for that reason and this is why he has a gold chain and pierced gills. I once again added tips when drawing this character as this one is harder to keep continuously the same when redrawing.
